Welcome to Distilo. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Distilo platform at distilo.co, including all services, features, and content (the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

By using Distilo, you represent that:

  • You are at least 16 years old (if under 18, with parental or guardian consent)
  • You have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms
  • All information you provide is accurate and up to date

3. Description of Service

Distilo is an AI-powered study platform that helps students learn more effectively. The Service includes:

  • AI-driven course distillation from uploaded documents (PDF, DOCX, PPTX)
  • Flashcard generation with spaced repetition scheduling (FSRS)
  • Multiple quiz types with AI grading and feedback
  • Memory strength tracking and study analytics
  • Review sheets, concept maps, and attack plans

4. User Accounts

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access

5. Subscriptions & Payments

Distilo offers free and paid plans. For paid subscriptions:

  • Payments are processed securely by Stripe
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date
  • You can cancel anytime from your account settings — access continues until the end of your billing period
  • No refunds are provided for partial billing periods
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice

6. Your Content & Uploaded Materials

You retain all rights to the study materials you upload to Distilo. By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to process your materials solely for providing the Service (AI distillation, flashcard generation, etc.).

  • You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload the materials
  • Do not upload copyrighted content you do not own or have permission to use
  • We do not claim ownership of your uploaded content
  • You can delete your content at any time

7. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Distilo uses artificial intelligence to generate study materials including summaries, flashcards, quizzes, and review sheets. Important limitations:

  • AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies. Always verify important information against your original course materials
  • Distilo does not guarantee academic accuracy or exam results
  • The Service is a study aid, not a replacement for attending classes, reading course materials, or professional academic guidance
  • You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of AI-generated content before relying on it

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or related systems
  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Service
  • Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit AI-generated content
  • Abuse service quotas or rate limits
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service

9. Intellectual Property

The Distilo platform, including its design, features, code, and branding, is the intellectual property of Distilo. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without prior written permission.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Distilo is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, academic results, profits, or other intangible losses arising from your use of the Service.

11. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. Upon deletion:

  • Your account and all associated data will be permanently removed within 30 days
  • Active subscriptions will be cancelled (no refund for remaining period)
  • This action is irreversible

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms, abusive behavior, or any reason we deem necessary to protect the Service and its users. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before termination, except in cases of severe or repeated violations.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the use of the Service will be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If a resolution cannot be reached, disputes will be submitted to the competent courts of the jurisdiction applicable to the parties involved.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Service at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
